Recycled Knitting Needle Bangles: Tutorial

I first saw these recycled knitting needle bangles on Etsy some years ago, so of course thought I would try to make them myself. If you have mismatched vintage knitting needles that are just sitting around your house, this is a fantastic way to put them to good use. Here's the quick and dirty (although not really) tutorial:

Materials Needed:
Recycled/antique or just plain plastic knitting needles
Large (soup) pot for boiling water
Glass jar, the size of your wrist
Tongs
Dish towel
2 Clothespins

Directions:
  1. Thoroughly rinse off the needles - make sure any grime or dust is washed off.
  2. Fill your soup pot with water and bring to a boil.
  3. Drop several needles into the boiling water.
  4. Allow the needles to boil in the water for 5 minutes.
  5. Place the jar on the dish towel.
  6. Remove the knitting needles one at a time with tongs -grasp each end with a clothespin so that you don't burn your fingers. While the needle is still hot, wrap it around the jar.
  7. Let cool for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove the clothespins, and slip the needle off the jar.
Cool, huh?
